Getting to Iceland and to Reykjavík
Most visitors to Iceland travel via Keflavík International Airport. Information about flights to Keflavík, along with other travel options with arrival points in the north and east of the country are outlined here. There are an increasing number of flight options available for volunteers travelling to Iceland. A list of the airlines operating services to Iceland can be found on the airport website.
It is very important that you arrive at the meeting point at the agreed time at the start of the project. If you are delayed, please contact the coordinator. It is advisable to organise your tickets early as prices often increase close to the departure date.
Keflavík International airport is about 50 km from Reykjavík. To get to Reykjavík, there are many buses options that will take around 50 minutes, depending on which option you choose:
Flybus. This service is available for all arriving and departing flights, day or night. It leaves from just outside the arrivals area.

Tickets can be purchased on the websites or directly in the bus. Please note that departure and arrival points might be different according to the option you are choosing.

There are many more, easy to find on Google. It is important to book them beforehand.
Other useful information
It is possible to buy Icelandic Krónur (ISK) at the airport when you arrive or make a withdrawal at ATMs. Note that most of the shops, even in very remoted locations, accept credit/debit cards.
The Internet is often not reachable. However, 3G/4G access is available almost everywhere in Iceland. Free Wi-Fi is often available at cafés.
