Protection Status
Þingvellir is a protected national park, located in Þingvallahreppur, Árnessýsla, and protected under Act No. 47/2004.
The area is managed by the Þingvellir Committee (Þingvallanefnd), which operates under the Icelandic Parliament (Alþingi).
The national park covers approximately 22,788.7 hectares.
