Access
Skógafoss is located directly beside the Ring Road, making it one of the most visited tourist destinations along Iceland’s south coast.
Protection Status
Skógafoss, together with the Skógaá River and its immediate surroundings, was designated a natural monument in 1987. The protected area covers approximately 1.84 km². According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) protected area classification system, Skógafoss is classified as a Category III protected area (Natural Monument or Feature).
