Access and Information
Kringilsárrani is a high plateau situated at an elevation of 625–700 metres in the eastern Central Highlands of Iceland. It forms the innermost part of Brúaröræfi and is bordered by Brúarjökull, Hálslón reservoir, and the Kringilsá river.
Kringilsárrani is managed by Vatnajökull National Park, with monitoring and other operations carried out by staff from the park’s eastern region.
Protection Status
Kringilsárrani was designated a nature reserve in 1975, and the protection designation was revised in 2003. The reserve covers an area of 6,372.3 hectares.
