Protection Status
Geitland was designated a nature reserve in 1988. The protected area is located in the upper district of Borgarfjörður.
Geitland extends from Langjökull to the south and east and is bordered by the Hvítá River to the north and the Geitá River to the west.
The landscape is characterised by extensive lava fields and sandy plains, although vegetated areas can be found throughout the reserve.
