Bláfjallafólkvangur Country Park is located close to Iceland’s largest municipalities and is relatively easy to access. The park includes the Bláfjöll ski area, with ski lifts and groomed cross country ski trails.

Protection status
Bláfjallafólkvangur was designated as a country park in 1973, and the designation was revised in 1985. The country park covers an area of 90.4 km².
The park is managed by a joint committee with representatives from Reykjavík, Kópavogur, Seltjarnarnes, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær, Sandgerði, Grindavík, Sveitarfélagið Garður, Sveitarfélagið Vogar, Reykjanesbær and Mosfellsbær.
