Access and Information
Álfaborg can be reached via Borgarfjarðarvegur road (Route 94). An easy walking trail to the top of Álfaborg begins near the campsite in Bakkagerði. At the top, there is a panoramic viewing dial identifying the mountains surrounding Borgarfjörður eystri.
The country park is supervised and managed by Borgarfjarðarhreppur municipality.
The campsite in Bakkagerði is located next to Álfaborg and provides toilet facilities for visitors from 15 May to 15 October. Camping is not permitted within the protected area.
Protection Status
Álfaborg was designated a nature reserve (fólkvangur) in 1976. The protected area covers 0.9 km².
