The Icelandic Institute of Natural History, a sister agency of the Nature Conservation Agency of Iceland, is responsible for implementing several international agreements and conventions on behalf of the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate. It also carries out work for regional international organisations.

The Institute actively participates in international cooperation, and many of its research and monitoring projects are linked to Iceland’s international commitments to nature conservation.
