About Permits
In protected areas managed by the Iceland Nature Conservation Agency, a permit from the Agency is required for activities including filming and photography projects, research, events and construction or other development work.
Permit applications are submitted through the Agency’s online service portal. It is important to provide as much detailed information as possible in the application. Fees are charged for processing applications in accordance with the current fee schedule.
Applications are generally processed within 15–30 days, depending on the type and scope of the application. The project, or any preparations for it within the protected area, may not begin until a permit has been issued.
